Tax Free...is it really worth it?

This weekend, as you many already know, is tax-free for all North Carolinians. I have some speculation as to if this so called "money-saving weekend" is really worth it? Consumers run to the stores with their wallets wide open, and are technically only saving about 7%. Sometimes, stores even mark up their prices this weekend rather than mark down. But because your already in the mindset of saving money, your opt to spend more than you would have on any other weekend. This very idea alone makes me wonder if this weekend I will actually come home with less money than I had intended. If your reading this, and are still not convinced, I have some sales I have come across listed below:

Kohls: spend $50 and get a $10 kohls cash to be used in August
Office Depot: spend $50 get $10 off (also paper has a rebate to make it 100% free)
JCPenny: spend $50 get $10 off coupon in paper
Dilliards: are offering refreshments some locations

I will admit, I may go out shopping this weekend only because I need a few things before graduate school starts (such as ink, paper, etc). But, I will try and be aware of the money I may actually be saving, or not.

Consumers be ware!
