In an attempt to blog about every news (good or bad) that happens during this pregnancy, I must share the good news we got back from the doctor's today. Our first trimester screening, which included a blood test and an ultrasound, came back ALL normal! :) So, this means our bundle of joy is healthy so far. Trisomy 18 and 21 have been ruled out.
The ultrasound consisted of them measuring the fluid in the spine to ensure a safe amount. Anything over a certain point is considered abnormal, and they will offer an amniocentesis to confirm the abnormalities, or lack thereof. Then, the drew my blood to screen for a certain hormone that suggests an abnormality. Except, when it was time to get my blood drawn the "blood lady" (What i call her because that is all she does all day, draw people's blood) had an appointment elsewhere and was gone. So, the nurse had to prick my finger instead and drop my blood into 5 perfectly shaped circles on a sheet of paper to turn into the lab. Haha, nothing goes right with me. BUT, hey, I would rather use that method than taking blood out of my vein anyday.
In conclusion, we have a healthy baby so far. Which makes my job a lot less harder for a little while longer. I worry about its wellbeing every second of the day.
